Registration of a domain name is always subject to availability.

Domain registrations cannot be cancelled nor altered afterwards.

Once an available name is "purchased" by you, registration is done immediately and the domain will be ready to use within 24 - 72 hours.

Unfortunately this delay is part of the propagation process and cannot be avoided. In layman's terms, this is the time that it takes for the entire internet to be "informed" that the domain name exists and where to find it.
